Guess who is keen on creating jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4? There’s @winocm for one. Have you heard of him? This developer is quite vocal about his plans for jailbreak products for said OS options. This guy has a good reputation in the community. As a matter of fact, @winocm has Accentify under his roster. Accentify is the jailbreak tweak that he developed. Besides this, he has been vocal of his intentions to create jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4.
Perhaps, @winocm is ready for the next project after his iOS 6.x downgrade. One of the things that got me interested in this developer is his untether binary, just one of his many contributions to our community. This jailbreak project is still in the early phase of development, like he said. Just two days ago, @winocm was at iDB and shared a bit of information on what he has been up to.
He also showed me something really amazing. My Apple iPhone 4S got a taste of Cydia installation. My phone runs on iOS 6.1.3 and this guy demonstrated pretty well that he could be the developer to pull off a good enough jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3. I witnessed the whole thing. I was there when he started and I observed first hand until the procedure was completed. If you’re in doubt, there is a video clip of Cydia working perfectly fine on my Apple iPhone 4S.
I can swear that it’s all legitimate, people. Nevertheless, I am under strict confidence not to reveal what he did, which was quite impressive. I was sitting there watching him transform my iPhone into something that has jailbreak apps, tweaks and other new exciting features and it was all good. Take my word for it. The video is real, the Cydia was installed in my Apple iPhone 4S, and you can see for yourself.
However, this is not a definitive announcement that there will be a release soon—one that people can access and use. A fully operational jailbreak may be forthcoming, but we have no final word yet. Personally, I am still a bit skeptical that there will be a public release anytime soon. But if someone can do it, my bet is on @winocm. He has shown me that he has the capability and perhaps the will to achieve this. If he releases something, then I won’t be surprised. He has the skill and the talent to get something done. But if he doesn’t then I will not be surprised either.
There’s always been talk that the iOS 6.x jailbreak is not effective at all. In my humble opinion, it is still very helpful and without question, iOS 6.1.3 users will still find it useful. What do you think? Is the iOS 6.x jailbreak really not relevant anymore with iOS 7 coming and all?
If you want to discuss this issue, plus a few more, better look forward to the next episode of “Let’s Talk Jailbreak.” You have to bear with us a bit, though. This episode is a bit behind but it is definitely coming soon. There are many factors beyond our power but we are doing our best for sure.
